Motivation isn’t Enough, You Need to Be Driven

“You know what?! I’m gonna wake up every morning at 6:30 am” says Sally rather ambitiously.

“You know what?! I’m gonna work out 5 times a week!” says Jimmy as he stares at his man boobs.

“You know what?! I’m never doing crack again!” says Bobby as he takes his ‘last’ hit.

“You know what?! I’m gonna write 2 blog posts a week!” says me, currently.

These are all common examples of people who are motivated to do something. They’re excited. They’re imagining all the opportunities that could arise. The life that awaits them. They plan it, getting the details straight of how they’ll achieve their goal.

There’s a few possibilities:

1. Least likely: They stay motivated for years, eventually becoming an expert at it.

2. Highly likely: They try it a few times, maybe even enjoy it for a bit. However, gradually their motivation declines. After a while they’re right back where they started.

3. Pretty likely: They don’t even try it because shortly afterwards they can’t be bothered, or think of some excuse why it’d be pointless anyways.

The Real Reasons to Work Out

dumbells

Why do there exist so many people who like or even love to get sweaty as hell, stink like crap, and make their muscles so incredibly sore?

Let’s ask Jimmy, Sally and Bobby about it:

“So Jimmy, why do you workout?”

Jimmy: Well, if I’m being honest, I wanna be the most jacked up guy in the gym, being named the ALPHA KING... it’d also be pretty dope if I could charm all the hot babes with my sick biceps, ya feel?

“Uhh… okay right…

(If you read until the end, I’ll show you some of his inspirational workout pics… BUT DO NOT JUST SCROLL DOWN, THAT’S CHEATING!)

And next we have our friend Bobby here, what about you?”

Bobby: I don’t have any reasons. I f@#$ing hate it.

“Thanks for sharing!

What about you Sally, you look awful excited?”

Sally: OH GOSH, I have a ton of reasons! Obviously, I’ll get insanely strong super fast, my bones will become unbreakable, my blood pressure impeccable, my immune system will be a fortified shield against every disease that existsjust basically perfect and invincible!

What to Do in a World of Infinite Interpretations?

It’s all a matter of perspective…

You’re reading these words right now.

OR

(Read this in your best fast-paced, nerdy voice:)

You’re using your eyes to obtain information from the pixels on your screen that form various symbols with specified meanings in the so-called “languages” that homo sapiens use as a form of verbal communication. Your brain is processing these ….

(In your best posh and articulate voice:)

The “yellow” bed sheet was to signify the warmth of the sun that has radiated upon Jimmy’s life as he transforms from the immature being he once was, into the transcendent spirit that envelops the adventures of a newfound independence.

OR

The author said the bed-sheet was yellow, probably ’cause Jimmy wet the bed… since he’s like 4 years old.

10 Reasons to Choose a Meaningful Life

Everything matters.

Avoid blaming others.

Take responsibility.

Tell the truth.

Sacrifice for the greater good.

Although those are some pretty tough ideas, they are all part of a meaningful life.

It pretty much includes all the stuff you know you should do. It’s choosing to listen to that annoying little voice in the back of your mind telling you: “Get your s@#! together Jimmy!”

Nihilism: 9 Reasons it’s So Popular

Nihilism… what’s that?

The reason you might have never heard about Nihilism before is because it’s just philosophical mumbo jumbo for saying: “everything is meaningless”.

If you think about it, doesn’t that make sense?

As a singular human being out of 7.6 billion on this massive planet, what’s the point of me being here? If I was wiped out, what difference would it make?

In a hundred or a thousand years, what will my efforts matter? What will it matter what anyone does ever?

However, one small issue is that believing everything is meaningless will not make you feel particularly happy. All your good moments turn into something irrelevant, temporary and pointless. If it doesn’t matter what you do or even if you die, there’s no reason to do anything at all. You can say goodbye to any kind of motivation!
